Thanks to our awesome friend Caryn, the four of us got dozens of great family portraits this weekend at a park in Irving. Here’s a link to the edited photo album:

Need a Workout?
Grab a blanket and a couple of toddlers!
The funniest part happens right before I start pulling. When Jonathan sees Brenden on the blanket and me holding one end, he walks over and flops facedown on the other end. He has figured out a stable position for blanket riding. =)
Jonathan Takes a Walk
In the last week or two, Jonathan has decided that walking is a good method of transportation rather than merely an amusing trick that makes people clap and cheer. So he is practicing. A lot. Check him out!
Jonathan’s First Birthday Party
On Saturday we invited the family over and celebrated Jonathan’s first birthday. It’s so weird to think that just a year ago, we had brought him home and were adjusting to life with two little guys.
Jonathan had a great time at his party. Jenny made tasty chili and cupcakes and used a circus theme for the decorations. He got lots of love and attention from his family and enjoyed every minute. Jonathan also LOVED his first cupcake and actually did a pretty good job eating it for a while:
By the end, what didn’t end up in his belly had become a colorful blanket of Funfetti crumbs all over his tray, bib, and chair. He didn’t mind, though.
Brenden knows how to sing the birthday song, as you can partially hear in the first video. Afterward I captured a closeup of him singing it.
Jonathan is One!
Happy birthday to Jonathan, who turns one year old today! It still amazes me how much he has changed in just a year. He went from a cute little lump to a happy, very active, sweet boy who has brought tremendous joy to our lives. We are so thankful for him.
To celebrate his birthday, we took him to the pediatrician for a checkup. =) I also started a new webpage to chronicle his second year of life.
Jonathan’s First Haircut
On Friday we took Jonathan for his first haircut. He’s about 10.5 months now, but he had developed an old man ‘do. Thin, wispy hairs stuck out over the tops of his ears, and the hair on top was thin. He reminded me of Doc Brown from Back to the Future. As we still do with Brenden, we took him to Cool Cuts 4 Kids in Southlake. Jonathan did GREAT. The hairdresser kept him calm with a sweet voice and gentle demeanor. That and a Barney video, which I hope will be the only time he watches Barney. He still looks like a baby, but his haircut definitely makes him look a bit older.
